  • British Music Hall star Harry Tate in "Billiards" - 1934 From a 1934 Pathe Short. Here introduced by Jimmy Perry in his 1982 TV series Turns Harry Tate, born Ronald MacDonald Hutchison in Scotland on 4th July 1872 was a popular Music Hall comic who commenced his career in the early 1890s, making his West End debut in 1895 at the Oxford Music Hall. An early car owner, he eventually developed his most famous sketch "Motoring. He appeared in the Royal Command Performances of 1912 and 1919. With the decline of Music Hall he began to appear more in Revue, his final appearance being in "All Clear" at the Theatre Royal, Brighton in 1939. He died on 14 February 1940 from injuries received during an air raid on Dundee. It is alleged that WC Fields based his character on Tate. Indeed he was accused of stealing Tate's act. Fields had often appeared as WC Fields "The Silent Humourist" on the same Music Hall bills as Harry Tate around 1912 and Tate had noticed Fields making copious notes in the wings when he was on. Many years later, Tate visited New York and saw Fields in a sketch called "The Family Ford" clearly a plagiarised version of "Motoring". Tate visited Fields backstage and challenged him with stealing the act, to little effect. In a fury, Tate flung his original script at Fields and said: "Here, read this and do the act properly!" and promptly walked out in disgust.

  • Kevin Rudd Char Ladies Corporation at Climate Rally Melbourne Part1 The John Howard Ladies Auxiliary Fan Club has been reborn as the Kevin Rudd Char Ladies Corporation. They explained exactly what the CPRS is all about. Here we see the the Kevin Rudd Char Ladies Corporation with a new fashion use for Clean Coal. "You Look Lovely Darling" Clean Coal also comes in SPF 30+ for that extra protection as it warms up due to climate change and all those CPRS fossil fuel subsidies. A Climate Emergency Rally in Melbourne was called at short notice for Wednesday, November 25 for 1pm. The Kevin Rudd Labor Government had announced the previous day the negotiations with Ian McFarlane of the Liberal Party to water down the Government legislation for an Emissons Trading Scheme - the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. • Fossil Multifunction Blue Dial Watch BQ9365 Deal of the Day Fossil BQ9365 Watch - August 10, 2009 Chic womens watch with a style only Fossil can deliver. Yours today for only $49 (61% off the retail price). Sale ends at midnight tonight (EST). Happy Monday everyone! I know Mondays are usually about as happy and chipper as a stapler to the head, so allow me to brighten your day by offering you a chance to do a little shopping in a minimized window while your cubicle-buddy is looking the other way. Today's deal? A gen-u-ine Fossil Ladies Watch. What can I say? Fossil watches are truly one of a kind. It calls back to the by-gone era when people dressed up to go out to dinner, danced the Waltz with live bands, and actually enjoyed real human interaction (thanks for ruining all of that, TV and internet, of course without the internet we wouldnt even be here, so maybe I should be careful what I criticize). Fossil's taken that era, while at the same time making it modern and unique. It's modern vintage in its truest form. And with JomaDeals satisfaction guarantee, if this deal fails to officially brighten your day, we'll exchange it for one that will (along with a box of donuts for "Pastry Fridays" next week, it's been a while since it was last our turn).
  • Music Hall stars Nellie Wallace & Lily Morris as Charladies - 1934 From the 1934 British film "Radio Parade of 1935" - starring Will Hay, and spoofing the BBC - being set in a fictional radio station the National Broadcasting Group or the NBG (British period slang for "no bloody good"!) Music Hall and Variety stars Lily Morris and Nellie Wallace make up a rare and slightly dodgy twosome in this film. It's a lovely example of their work, and a rare opportunity to see MIss Wallace in a talking picture. However, I rather suspect that both ladies would have preferred to do their act solo!
