  • The PEN Story This is the PEN Story in stop motion. We shot 60.000 pictures, developed 9.600 prints and shot over 1.800 pictures again. No post production! Thanks to all the stop motion artists who inspired us. We hope you enjoy :-) Some of the comments we have read here suggest that we should mention the creator of "A wolf loves pork", Mr Taijin Takeuchi. While we were looking for a way to realise a story describing "a journey through time" based on printed images, we were inspired by Mr Takeuchi's brilliant work. For this reason we intentionally quoted his work in our little movie while showing full respect to his original idea. We didnt mention his name because we did not want to do so without his prior agreement. However after considering some of the comments posted here we have decided to add credits to him and his work, which we obviously absolutely love.
  • TEDxSantaCruz: Jonathan Trent - Fuels and Tools for a Sustainable Future Jonathan Trent, NASA scientist and adjunct Professor at UCSC, wanted to understand what politicians meant when they said: "We need an Apollo mission for energy" and he began "Global Research into Energy and the Environment at NASA (GREEN)." Leading an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, he investigated how tools developed for Apollo, and space exploration in general, could be applied to address some of the most pressing problems on "spaceship earth." Inspired by closed life-support systems developed for long-duration space exploration, he invented OMEGA—a system to grow microalgae, produce sustainable biofuels, clean wastewater, sequester carbon, and produce food and fertilizer without competing with agriculture for freshwater or land. The OMEGA project, supported by NASA and the California Energy Commission, is an ecology of technologies in which wastes become resources. An optimistic glimpse at the future and a reminder that we are not passengers on spaceship earth, we are the crew! This TEDxSantaCruz talk is part of over 2 dozen surrounding our theme of "Engage!" This inaugural TEDxSantaCruz event was held June 11, 2011 at the Cabrillo College Music Recital Hall in Aptos, CA (Santa Cruz County). TEDx. x=independently organized TED event. The Threat Detection and Warning subsystem consists of several sensors, including flat-panel radars, placed at strategic locations around the protected vehicle, to provide full hemispherical coverage. Then, it is launched automatically into a ballistic trajectory to intercept the incoming threat at a relatively long distance.

  • Game Boy Advance Longplay [030] Golden Sun (1 of 6) Played by Tsunao RPG developed by Camelot. Story involves going into a temple or something, disturbing something, and then setting out on a great adventure to stop some people from lighting some lighthouses. Game (or rather, the series) is prone to having awesome music (my picks would be the World Map, Venus Lighthouse, Saturos Boss Fight). If it matters: the composer is Motoi Sakuraba (if a game is tri-Ace or Camelot, 9 times out of 10, he is the composer) Gameplay is the ol' turn-based RPG thing. There is also a pretty deep class system (depending on how you organize the Djinn). As for what I do: I'm just playing through it. I do get all Djinn (I need all of them to even get into an optional dungeon in The Lost Age) and complete all sidequests? (there's not many). Near the end of the adventure (after Crossbone Island), I reset (hard reset) the game a lot to abuse the RNG to get random drops (this game's and TLA's RNG isn't "random".) RNG abuse on: killing Tempest Lizard via Crystal Rod's Drown, getting Kikuichimonji aka K-Sword, getting Aura Gloves, getting Blessed Mace, and getting the Feathered Robe. I also do a small sequence break. I'm suppose to go to Kolima forest, fight Tret, and then go to Imil and climb the Mercury Lighthouse. Since I didn't do that, I am pretty underleveled. However, it does save a trip. On the subject of underleveled, at Tobli, I am pretty much underleveled for the rest of the game (I only grinded in Mercury Lighthouse to ...

The MG4 is a belt-fed 5.56 mm light machine gun designed and developed by the German company Heckler & Koch. The weapon was developed in the late 1990s and was first seen publicly in September 2001. It has been selected to replace the 7.62 mm MG3 general purpose machine gun in the Bundeswehr at the squad support level; it will complement the MG3 in other roles. The MG4 will also be the secondary armament of the new Puma infantry fighting vehicle. • Minecraft - Gladiator Arena + Random Terrain Generator I've developed a pretty rudimentary way to generate random terrain in minecraft. The idea is for it to be used in PVP, or possibly PVM battles. It takes forever to set up, so servers with a saved map would make great use of this. It works on the fact that fire's burn path is totally random, and you never know how a fire will spread. It also uses the fact that there's a bug that stops certain blocks that are on fire from burning away. These two principles are what creates the "random" factor. I have two prototypes set up in this video. There is also a nice view of my city towards the end. I don't blame you for not watching all 10 mins of this.
  • Hemi-Sync 1/6 Hemi-Sync is a name for a process developed at the Monroe Institute, used to create audio patterns containing binaural beats. Hemi-sync is a technology developed by Robert Monroe, founder of the Monroe Institute, and Monroe Products. Hemi-sync is short for Hemispheric Synchronization aka Brainwave synchronization. Monroe indicated that the technique synchronizes the two hemispheres of one's brain, thereby creating a 'frequency-following response' designed to evoke certain effects. H emi-sync has been used for many purposes, including relaxation and sleep induction, learning and memory aids, helping those with physical and mental difficulties, and reaching altered states of consciousness through the use of sound. The technique involves using sound waves to entrain brain waves. Wearing headphones, Monroe claimed that brains respond by producing a third sound (called binaural beats) that encouraged various brainwave activity changes.

  • Easy Bread Recipe - Faster than a bread machine I developed this recipe to teach 5 year olds how to make bread. I now get accosted by their parents almost on a daily basis for the recipe because it is so easy. It only requires one 5min knead and is pretty much left alone to do its thing. Ingredients * 600g Strong White Bread Flour * 7g Easy Dry Yeast * 1tsp brown sugar * 2tsp salt * 400ml lukewarm water * 3 tblsp melted butter Method Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and then knead either by hand or by machine for 5mins. Put the dough in a loaf tin or divide into small rolls. Cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise in a warm place for approx 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size. Cook in a preheated oven 200c/400f for 30 mins. And that is it. You can use 400g of white and 200g of wholemeal flour if you wish.
  • Monkey tool usage: Flint knife and probe Capuchin monkeys in an experiment in South Carolina demonstrate wonderful tool usage and remarkable problem solving abilities, to acquire honey using multiple tools. Illustrates planning behaviour, the understanding that tools having different properties are useful for different applications, and even rudimentary bartering ability! The token exchange is interesting in and of itself; I'm sure it took a lot of training. There is another example of its usage by the same experimenter here: From the BBC documentary "Capuchins: The Monkey Puzzle", narrated by the ever brilliant Sir David Attenborough.
