  • Snake surgical lung endoscopy.mp4 Carpet Python surgical lung endoscopy. This video shows a surgical lung endoscopic examination in a 2kg Carpet Python (Morelia spilota) that was suffering from chronic lower respiratory tract disease. The long narrow trachea makes the use of a standard flexible bronchoscope difficult in snakes. In this technique a long rigid endoscope is surgically inserted in the air sac region of the caudal lung. Snakes have a faveolar lung structure, unlike the mammalian alveolar lung, with most of the spongy faveolar structure surrounding the lumen of the cranial lung, gradual reducing caudally to a thin membranous air sac. Some organs can be seen through the thin air sac walls. In this examination no fungal plaques, parasites, or granulomas were evident, just small beads of mucopurulent material that were samples for bacterial culture and sensitivity

  • Acne Keloidalis Nuchae Information Dr. Diane M. Hoss, MD discusses Acne Keloidalis Nuchae Information. See more at PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!! Acne keloidalis nuchae is a folliculitis that occurs on the occipital scalp and results in scarring alopecia. The disease mainly affects African American men, however, African American women and occasionally other ethnic groups may develop the disease. The earliest clinical lesions are follicular papules and occasional pustules. With time these papules become fibrotic with associated hair loss. A small number of patients develop large keloidal type plaques on the nape. Scalp biopsy demonstrates lympho-plasmacytic inflammation of the upper portions of the follicles early in the course of the disease. Perifollicular fibrosis with loss of sebaceous glands then occurs. Eventually hair follicles are destroyed with resultant hair granulomas. The dermis may develop hypertrophic scarring, however true histologic keloid formation is not observed. The cause of AKN is not known. In the past, close clipping of the curly African American hair was implicated, similar to the pathogenesis of pseudofolliculitis barbae. However, the disease occurs in the absence of this type of hair styling and in other ethnic groups and therefore other factors must contribute to the development of the folliculitis.
  • Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery News - No Guilt Facelift - Face Lift World-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Paul S. Nassif, of "Dr. 90210" and Spalding Drive Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, performs No Guilt Facelift. Over the last decade, lower transconjunctival blepharoplasty has become the method of choice by facial plastic surgeons for treatment of lower eyelid herniated fat due to the reduced rate of complications and to the hidden incision. The primary complications of the transcutaneous approach are lower lid retraction with scleral show, lower lid ectropion and rounding of the lateral canthal angle. Advantages of fat repositioning include the prevention and improvement of the tear-trough deformity and treatment of the herniated orbital fat. The disadvantages of fat repositioning are the steep learning curve and potential complications such as diplopia due to injury of the inferior oblique muscle, fat granulomas, prolonged edema and rarely, soft tissue irregularities.

  • What Are The Types of Skin Fungal Infections Part 2? Jock itch is commonly seen in boys and men whose anatomy allows for a warm, moist environment which is ideal for fungal growth: * Often itchy and occurs in the groin creases (the scrotum is rarely affected), although it may spread to the upper inner thigh, buttocks and sometimes the lower abdomen. More common in warm climates. * Shows as a red-brown scaly rash, sometimes with small blisters or pustules at the edge. * At times the skin may show a thickened appearance(lichenification) from rubbing and chronic scratching. Ringworm (Tinea corporis) Ringworm causes red scaly patches that are typically ring-shaped. It generally appear on the upper body, or the hands and feet. Beware that ringworm is sometimes inadvertently treated with topical cortisone creams, which change the appearance of the rash and may worsen the condition. You are at risk for ringworm if you: * have a suppressed immune system * play contact sports or recreational activities * are the child of parents who have a fungal skin infection. * are genetically-predisposed to this type of infection. Note that an uncommon but important variant is a condition known as Majocchi granuloma, which is a collection of small bumps or granulomas that can sometimes become warty-looking. This occurs when women shave their legs and the fungus becomes implanted in and around the hair follicle.

  • Central Indiana Sarcoidosis Group Awarness Vid This is a TELEVISION video that aired on Indianapolis, IN 6News w/ reporter Stacia Matthews. Topic was for the illness "Sarcoidosis". It was done for Awareness. I wanted to share this with the world. Hollywood comedian/actor Bernie Mac shed spotlight on this topic, but I had long before dealt with it. My mother & God-sister (who is featured in this video) has this illness and formed the Central Indiana Sarcoidosis Group. There are many others around the world who are affected by this illness. PLEASE BE AWARE, SPREAD THE INFO! Many doctors still are unaware of the illness & research continues. WHAT IS SARCOIDOSIS? Sarcoidosis (sar-koy-DO-sis) is a disease of unknown cause that leads to inflammation. It can affect various organs in the body. Normally, your immune system defends your body against foreign or harmful substances. For example, it sends special cells to protect organs that are in danger. These cells release chemicals that recruit other cells to isolate and destroy the harmful substance. Inflammation occurs during this process. Once the harmful substance is destroyed, the cells and the inflammation go away. In people who have sarcoidosis, the inflammation doesn't go away. Instead, some of the immune system cells cluster to form lumps called granulomas (gran-yu-LO-mas) in various organs in your body. Overview Sarcoidosis can affect any organ in your body. However, it's more likely to occur in some organs than in others. The disease usually starts in the lungs, skin ...
  • BERNIE MAC dies of Sarcoidosis weeks after bad Obama joke Weeks after making an off-color joke during a Barack Obama fundraiser, comedian Bernard J. McCollough - Bernie Mac - died o August 9, 2008 at age 50. Bernie died of Sarcoidosis (sar"koi-do'sis), an immune system disorder. According to a medical doctor familiar with the disease, "The overall mortality rate for hospitalized pneumonia is 8 percent. In those who do not respond within 72 hours, this jumps up to 25 percent. Bernie Mac had a prolonged hospital stay, suggesting that he did not initially respond well to antibiotic therapy. This fact alone gave him a much cloudier prognosis." So what is Sarcoidosis? It involves inflammation that produces tiny lumps of cells in various organs in your body. The lumps are called granulomas (gran"u-lo'mahs) because they look like grains of sugar or sand. They are very small and can be seen only with a microscope. These tiny granulomas can grow and clump together, making many large and small groups of lumps. If many granulomas form in an organ, they can affect how the organ works. This can cause symptoms of sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis can occur in almost any part of your body, although it usually affects some organs more than others. It usually starts in one of two places: Lungs Lymph nodes, especially the lymph nodes in your chest cavity.
  • Follicular Degeneration Syndrome Dr. Diane M. Hoss, MD discusses Follicular Degeneration Syndrome. See more at PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!! FDS is a form of CCCA that occurs in African Americans with a female to male ratio of 3 Patients present with an area of slowly expanding scarring alopecia on the vertex or crown. The condition may be asymptomatic or accompanied by pruritus or tenderness. Often the lesion appears not to be inflamed, but there may be erythema and/or pustules at the periphery of the area of scarring. Scalp biopsy in FDS shows degeneration of the internal root sheaths below the level of the isthmus. Involved follicles may also demonstrate eccentric placement of the hair shaft with thinning of follicular epithelium, concentric lamellar perifollicular fibrosis, superficial perifollicular and perivascular lymphocytic inflammation, and in late lesions, destruction of follicles with resultant hair granulomas. The etiology of FDS is unknown, however hair care practices such as chemical straightening and use of hot combs may play a role in some patients. FDS is difficult to treat. There are no studies examining the benefit of various treatment modalities for this condition. Discontinuation of chemical processing and hot combs is recommended. Intralesional steroids can be given into the periphery of a lesion that is still actively expanding. Superpotent topical steroids could also be used for short periods of time. Topical or systemic antibiotics can be given if there is a ...
  • How The Different Root End Infections Affect The Body, By Dr How the different root end infections affect the body - By Dr. George Meining, DDS, FACD. There are three main kinds of root end tooth infections, but in most instances they are simply referred to as abscessed teeth.. The three main root end tooth infections are called granulomas, cysts and condensing osteitis.. Granulomas and cysts, though they appear to be quite similar, have distinctly different characteristics.. Fistulas are channels that carry pus from the infection area to the outside ofthe face or mouth. They help the body drain away excessive amounts of pus.. Condensing osteitis is rarely mentioned as a root end infection process, but Dr. Price found its presense to be accompanied by some very specific infection related reactions.. Dr. Price made bacteriologic examinations of three different dental infection areas. To his surprise, he found, for the most part that no matter how large an involved area or how much pus was flowing, comparatively few bacteria were present. He interpreted this to mean the body's white blood cells and other defense mechanisms had good control on the infection process present.. Furthermore, in such cases he found patients to be in relatively good overall health and that they did not exhibit the expected signs and symptoms of systemic illness.. Dr. Price reasoned that the large areas of bone destruction and pus about these infected areas were not a measure of the severity of infection, so commonly believed, but were in actuality expressing ...

  • 200 pound tumor What is Sarcoidosis? Sarcoidosis (pronounced SAR-COY-DOE-SIS) is an inflammatory disease that can affect almost any organ in the body. It causes heightened immunity, which means that a persons immune system, which normally protects the body from infection and disease, overreacts, resulting in damage to the bodys own tissues. The classic feature of sarcoidosis is the formation of granulomas, microscopic clumps of inflammatory cells that group together (and look like granules, hence the name). When too many of these clumps form in an organ they can interfere with how that organ functions.
