  • LeBron James 38 Points vs Pistons Game 1 Playoffs !! HD ! capped by venomindustries CLEVELAND -- LeBron James crossed midcourt and launched the ball toward the basket more than 40 feet away as the horn sounded As Cleveland's star, the Detroit Pistons, 20000 fans and a TV audience watched the shot's arching flight, James never stopped running. "I was going to chase it until it went in the hoop," he said. Off the backboard, through the rim, then the net. It was halftime. It was over. James banked in a stunning 3-pointer at the end of the first half and finished with 38 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Cavaliers embarked on their quest for a first NBA championship with a 102-84 win over the Pistons in Game 1 on Saturday. James' 41-footer demoralized the Pistons and gave the Cavs the league's most dominant team -- home or away -- during the regular season, momentum and a 12-point halftime lead. Cleveland held off one second-half surge by Detroit while James was on the bench and closed out the Pistons, who will try to even the best-of-seven series in Game 2 on Tuesday night. To do that, Detroit will have to devise something to slow the brilliant James, who had his way for 41 minutes. The likely MVP went 13-of-20 from the field, 11-of-14 from the line and didn't commit a turnover. Cleveland had only five miscues, a postseason franchise record. "It's tough when he is going like that," Pistons forward Antonio McDyess said. "No matter what you do; trap, he's going to make that play; contest shots, he's making shots. He's ...

  • Michael Jordan - Buzzerbeater vs Detroit Pistons (Nov 11, 1992) Following a hard-fought come-from-behind victory over Indiana, the Bulls had to face their old nemesis, the Detroit Pistons, at the Stadium in Chicago. It was a low-scoring game with lots of hustle plays on both sides, lots of bruises and cuts -- Isiah alone had to leave the game several times. Bulls dominated the boards all night. After scoring just 32 points in the first half, the Pistons, led by Isiah Thomas, shot 70 % in the third quarter for 35 points, 15 of them coming from their point guard. Thomas also hit a miracle three at the end of the period to give his team momentum and a one-point lead going into the fourth. The Bulls outscored Detroit 20-19 in the last quarter -- it was the 5th time in 5 games they held their opponents under 20 in the 4th. Jordan and Thomas both had a chance to seal the win at the end, but they missed and the game went into overtime. With seconds left, Jordan drove to the basket for a layup and got fouled. He made both freethrows to give Chicago a one-point lead. Joe Dumars hit a jumpshot at the other end and the Bulls called their last timeout. With four seconds left in overtime, Jordan got the ball, dribbled hard to his right, left Dumars and Polynice behind in the dust and hit a long three for the win. Bulls 98 - Pistons 96. All game long the Pistons' backcourt gave Chicago real trouble -- 54 points by Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars. Isiah was 12-for-28 from the field for 32 points and 8 assists. Scottie Pippen had a triple double with 16 ...

  • Michael Jordan vs. Piston's Defense (aka: "Jordan Rules") Sports Illustrated, November 1989: The Jordan Rules by Jack McCallum The guiding principle is that a defender is never left to guard Jordan unaided. Jordan's position on the floor dictates whether the Pistons trap him with a second defender or have the second defender play "help and recover" (that is, run at Jordan to stop his dribble, but then scramble back to his own man; Salley is a master at this ploy). The closer Jordan is to the basket, the more the Pistons go with the trap. When he is above the sideline hash mark (28 feet from the baseline), they usually play help and recover. Even when Jordan is far from the basket, perhaps bringing up the ball as a point guard on a wide-open floor, Detroit runs a second player at him, someone like Salley or Rodman. This reduces the amount of open court that he has to work with and often forces him to give up the ball to a teammate. The Pistons always want someone else to handle the ball. Not sometimes. Always. When Jordan has the ball on the wing, the Detroit player guarding him forces him toward defensive help. Most often that means turning Jordan to the right when he's on the left side of the floor and to the left when he's on the right side. If Jordan happens to get isolated with one man and is in a potential scoring position, the Piston defender will try to force him to go left. They think he makes a stronger, more explosive move to his right. So does Jordan. When Jordan tries to run a pick-and-roll, Detroit traps him. That ...

  • Michael Jordan 1988: 59pts Vs. Detroit Pistons on CBS This is the single most important game of the modern basketball era. Also, it kept solidifying the fact that MJ saved his best for the best teams. MJ rarely cared to score big against poor teams unless he had to since it was a chance to get the team to play. In MJ's first 19 games vs. Detroit, he averaged 36ppg including a 61pt spanking the year before (a game I also have edited on ). After this 59pt game on national TV on Easter Sunday in front of a record crowd at Detroit, the Pistons' coach Daly had enough. He vowed never to let MJ beat them again. Born was the beginning of the most awesome defense ever - "The Jordan Rules". The basics of the defense were to 'funnel MJ to the middle so the big guys could knock him on his butt'. But, the defense was so specific that there was a rule for what to do wherever MJ had the ball. Go here: The "Jordan Rules" went on to revolutionize the game - making defense win championships. The Pistons went on to win two titles and their 'bruiserball' defense on Jordan forced the NBA to invent the flagrant foul. The Knicks and the Heat copied this football style and soon, the league's scoring plummeted. MJ, still scoring 30+ ppg was unaffected with his insane skills but the league itself couldn't score. We saw in the 90s, slow games with teams scoring just 60 points each with no one able to make any shots. After MJ retired, the NBA tinkered with the rules to get scoring back up and today, we are still ...
  • Chicago Bulls @ Detroit Pistons | 1991 Playoffs | ECF Game 4: Bad Boys are history They ended years of frustration. They ended the Detroit Pistons' two-year reign as champions. And now, the Chicago Bulls can begin thinking about playing in the NBA finals for the first time. Making it look easy, the Bulls completed a four-game sweep of the Pistons with a 115-94 victory today at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Chicago dominated the Eastern Conference finals from start to finish, brushing aside the proud Pistons as if they were a nuisance instead of the defending champions. "To say that this is unexpected, to sweep this team, is an understatement," said Phil Jackson, Chicago's coach. "But after losing to this team for three years, I think we deserve a shot." The Pistons tried physical play, lineup changes and anything else they could think of to avoid being dethroned at home. None of it worked. The Bulls were too determined, too poised and too good to be denied. And now, Michael Jordan (29 points on 11-for-17 shooting along with nine rebounds, nine assists) and the Bulls have an impressive 11-1 record in the playoffs. "We didn't want it any other way," said Jordan, who added more luster to his extraordinary seven-year career by reaching the NBA finals for the first time. "We wanted to beat Detroit. That way, there wouldn't be any tarnish to what we accomplished. We surprised a lot of people, and we surprised ourselves. We didn't feel we could sweep this team, but we knew we could beat them. We had to accept every beating, every push and every elbow they gave ...
  • DIO Piston Install TIPS These are some tips on installing or taking off your two stroke pistons from the crankshaft. Always keep the parts clean and take your time and do the job right. Remember that the piston always goes on with the arrow on the piston crown, pointed towards the exhaust port. Put your rings back on or take them off with a piston ring expander. Rings are very brittle and can snap in half, very easily. Line the rings up with the single ring pin in each slot. Oil the rings and cylinder walls with two stroker oil and carefully lower the cylinder onto the piston. Use a new base gasket , scraping off the old one. When changing or working with the cylinder off, stuff the crankcase around the crank rod to stop foreign debris from entering and fallin in the crank well. Use a new head gasket every time and torque the head bolts in a cross-hatch pattern to avoid warping the aluminum head. Take your spark plug and screw it into the head before installing to make sure the plug sits flush with the top of the cylinder head chamber.

  • Detroit Pistons @ Chicago Bulls | 1991 Playoffs | ECF Game 1: The statement game Before a deafening crowd of 18676 fans at Chicago Stadium, the Bulls defeated the Pistons, 94-83, in the opening game of the four-of-seven-game Eastern Conference championship series. Jordan, whose election as the league's most valuable player will be announced Monday, was held to 22 points, 9 points below his playoff average, on 6-for-15 shooting along with three boards, three steals and six assists. But Jordan's teammates stepped forward -- the Bulls' bench combined for 30 points and starters Scottie Pippen (18 points), Bill Cartwright (16 points) and Horace Grant (10 rebounds) stood up to Detroit's physical play, holding off the Pistons whenever they threatened to take control. "I had a bad game, but we still won," Jordan said afterward. "I think that shows the maturity of our team. I think this shows them that we've got a team, instead of a one-man situation." Today's game set the tone for the remainder of the series. There was very little open-court play, and there were very few scintillating offensive moves. This series will be physical. Bodies will fly. Tempers will flare. Skin will bleed. Character will be tested. There were times away from the ball when the action resembled a rugby scrum. Players shoved, held and did whatever else they felt they could get away with. "It's a different style of ball when you play us," said Mark Aguirre, who led the Pistons with 25 points. "They're not going to be able to play us like Philly, where they got a lot of running and ...

  • Allen Iverson Pistons' Debut 24pts 6asts vs Nets NBA 08/09 sick crossover on Eduardo Najera! Allen Iverson's first game with Detroit turned into the best night of Devin Harris' career. Harris scored a career-high 38 points Friday night, outplaying Iverson in the second half and leading the New Jersey Nets to a 103-96 victory over the Pistons. New Jersey, which trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half, played some of its best basketball of the season in the final two periods to hand the Pistons their first loss after four wins to open the season. "It was just about playing hard," Harris said. "We didn't get off to the best start. We have been really struggling in the third quarter but tonight we came out with more aggressiveness. Points for me didn't matter. It was all about the win. We desperately needed this for our confidence's sake." Vince Carter and Josh Boone each scored 18 for New Jersey, which got its first home win after two losses. Boone also pulled down 14 rebounds. Iverson had 24 points and six assists after finally getting to suit up. Detroit played twice since the trade Monday with Denver that sent Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to the Nuggets for the nine-time All-Star. Iverson was not available for the first game and was not permitted to play the second because Billups had not completed his physical with the Nuggets. Richard Hamilton scored 22 points, while Tayshaun Prince added 19 points and 11 rebounds. It looked like an easy win for Detroit at the start. Iverson stepped right in, joining Hamilton in the Detroit ...
