  • Where Religion Meets Politics: Church, State and American History Complete video at: fora.tv Susan Jacoby discusses the effects religion has had on American politics since the drafting of the Constitution. Denys Turner points out that despite America's formal separation of church and state, religion permeates politics to a greater degree than in Britain, where there is a government-sanctioned church. ----- Journalist Susan Jacoby, philosopher Colin McGinn, and theologian Denys Turner explore questions such as: Is humanism another kind of religion? Is it religion's evolutionary future, rather than just one of several alternatives? What light does the recent scientific study of religion throw on these possibilities? How do the new humanists compare to the new atheists? Can an atheist identity be shaped by a positive ethic, or must it be primarily an anti-religious sentiment? How will the persistence of belief and disbelief, as well as the tension between them, shape thought and culture in the 21st century? - CUNY Susan Jacoby is the author of The Age of American Unreason. She began her writing career as a reporter for The Washington Post, and has been a contributor to a wide range of periodicals and newspapers for more than 25 years on topics including law, religion, medicine, aging, women's rights, political dissent in the Soviet Union and Russian literature. • Where Religion Went Wrong - Sam Keen Complete video at: fora.tv Sam Keen, author of In the Absence of God, explores what he believes is the fallacy of organized religion by tracing the five evolutionary stages through which most have progressed. "We have to find the story that is everybody's story," he says."The essence of religion is a series of primal experiences, which belong to us only because...we share the human condition." ----- As global residents within a culture of fanaticism, materialism, and greed, is it possible to bridge our differences and dwell in harmony in the twenty-first century? Celebrated author Sam Keen believes that a new understanding of the role of religion in our lives is essential for such a transformation. And that nothing less than our existence hangs in the balance. In In the Absence of God, Keen offers a provocative critique of the present state of religion and leads the way down a new path -- one of renewal for us and our troubled society. By recovering the experience of the sacred, Keen argues, we may renew our own relationship with God and discover the religious commonality we all share, ending bridging differences that have divided Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and others. What does religion offer us in today's world? How has religion failed us? Must we choose between religious fundamentalism and atheism -- or is there a hopeful alternative? How can religion address the challenges and violence we face every day? Keen reminds us that the answers to these questions ...

  • Religion Many religions wish to bring peace and unity to the world, yet the world has had religion for millenia, and humanity has yet to see these aims realized. The religions of the world have all equally failed to unite us and have instead divided us and further perpetuated violence, intolerance, and cruelty. To realize the ideals of the Movement is to realize what all religions strive for: peace on earth and a brotherhood of man.

  • Hip-Hop Is A Religion (1 of 7) - Rappers Are Preachers THE SHORT DESCRIPTION --- See how Hip-Hop is a religion from the artist point of view. Real Hip-Hop artists know the 5 elements of Hip-Hop. The 5th element of Hip-Hop is the "knowledge of self as God." Self worship is essential practice of satanism. Hear it from the church of satan and various artists in the rest of the series. Many people follow this religion (of self worship) and don't know it. Anyone, Hip-Hoppas, Athiests, Christians, Muslims, whether you consider yourself religious or not, this doctrine has been preached to all of us at some time because this is not just in Hip-Hop. It's just more obvious in Hip-Hop because more people are following it all over the world. All you have to do is watch the rest of this series to see the proof. Just something to think about. Nothing meant to harm or disrespect anyone. Show this to others so we may all learn from this. Don't use this as a tool to hate, but instead spread peace, unity, and love. Everyone needs to know this. THE LONG DESCRIPTION---------------- Think about the artists you listen to. Do you know what religion is preached to you when you listen to them? Every artist is preaching about something to you through their music, whether it seems religious or not. Religion is whatever you believe and practice. For example, if you believe God doesn't exist, you will practice living as if He doesn't exist. Therefore, everyone has religion, whether you consider yourself a religious person or don't. Like it or not, you ...

Updated version of "Man's Flaw" with new, real-life human narration and a modicum of attention to pixel ratios. I had a spare13 hours on my hands, so I thought, why not If you agree with the message in Man's Flaw and believe that the world would be a better place if people didn't follow self-serving, divisive, simplistic, cultural traditions then please share this video as much as possible. Quite apart from religion being about selflessness and altruism, I believe it to be a blatant display of overwhelming selfishness. I've no doubt that believing in a religion benefits the individual, in terms of happiness and contentment (potentially), (which is the only reason people subscribe) however if you place importance on your global community, you'll see the detriment of these clusters of cultural enshrinement. • Discovering Religion: Ep 19 - If America Became a Christian Nation (3 of 3) Part 3 discusses the issue of adultery in both the Islamic and Christian faiths. We first explore two different stories from the Hadith, where the prophet Muhammad's unquenchable bloodlust is on display. Next, we examine Jesus Christ's contradictory views on adultery -- including the famous story of Jesus and the adulterous woman, found in John 8, which New Testament scholars have found to be a complete fabrication. The episode concludes with an appeal to the faithful to be cognizant of what their religions truly preach, to see that "extremism is pure, uncut religion that has not be diluted with the progressive views of secular logic and reason." Note: Episode 19 completes the miniseries on "Religion in America" (episodes 17-19). In the next set of videos I will turn my focus to exploring the issues of "Morality" and then "Faith". • Discovering Religion: Ep 01 - Ready-Made World The first installment of my original series "Discovering Religion". In this episode I discuss the apparent conflicts that exist with our present observable reality and our past archaic religious traditions that not only seem to contradict one another, but all that we have discovered through the scientific method. Note: The Shia denomination of Islam believes that a young boy by the name of Mahdi, born in 869 CE, is Muhammad al-Mahdi, the Twelfth Imam. The Shia believe Mahdi was hidden by God at the age of five where he remains awaiting for God to proclaim the time of his return. From wikipedia: The Twelfth Imam will return as the Mahdi with "a company of his chosen ones," and his enemies will be led by the one-eyed Antichrist and the Sufyani. The two armies will fight "one final apocalyptic battle" where the Mahdi and his forces will prevail over evil. After the Mahdi has ruled Earth for a number of years, Jesus will return. Link: This is very scary stuff folks! Although not ALL Muslims believe in the Hidden Imam, history is a good indicator that radical views such as these can be extremely dangerous, despite the size of the group adherent to the beliefs.
