A fresh offering from one of South Africa's old school singing gems, Ekhaya celebrates the coming of age of the magnificent female vocalist Sharon Dee, and places her firmly back in the spotlight after a significant musical sabbatical 'Local is lekker'. A colossal anthem in the 90's, elevated the young Sharon Dee to household status overnight and introduced her to her adoring public through township bashes and street parties. Sharon, still finding her feet in the music world, was geared for commercial success. The public expected a big pop career for the young singer yet she chose a different path, opting to pursue her love for gospel music. Sharon joined multi-award winning Gospel group Joyous Celebration. Sharon eventually immigrated to the UK where she furthered her love of music through performance and study. She took a large role in the phenomenal Lion King and spent 9 months in the limelight of the big stage. After 6 years away she finally returned to South Africa, married, with two sons, who are now aged 9 and 3. A strong, determined woman, Sharon successfully juggles motherhood and marriage with her re-emerging singing career. "Motherhood is half the reason I took such a long break from music," she says, "I wanted to ...
